The main reason why startup does not consult Human Resources is they don’t know how HR functions. There exactly they lack the insight to understand importance of human resources in their organization. As a startup they are highly motivated and hire people with the same motivation and try to give them the feel of “ Fun@ work” culture , but what if the person doesn’t fit in that “Fun@ work” culture there comes the HR which plays a vital role in retaining that person saving organization money popularly know as CTC. Yet, you hire a person and he starts performing, what about the ethics, for a startup ethics is one of the pillar of its business. To maintain ethics, proper policies/ manual should be in place which only HR consultant having domain knowledge can frame. The guideline where employee and top management is expected to follow. HR is not just limited to retaining employees but is also concerned with employee’s safety especially women, having anti-sexual harassment policy in place. Just one unfortunate incidence can collapse the entire startup, if having no HR presence.
“Setting the tone of organization” is what human resources do and that’s what a startup requires.
